Must-have (probably already in your house): printer paper, envelopes or folders, pencils, scissors, a phone timer.

Nice-to-have:

• A combination lock box for the final reveal
• UV pen and flashlight for "invisible" clues
• Cardstock, so pieces survive small hands
• Small prizes like gold chocolate coins

Skip: expensive themed decor. Kids remember the puzzles, not the tablecloth.

Budget tip: a complete party can cost under $15 if you print at home and use treats as the treasure.
